PTO hosts a series of informational meetings during the first semester in Room 605 by the front desk. They start at 6:30 p.m. and last about an hour. Speakers typically cover topics such as service learning (community service hours), discipline, how to prevent bullying, scholarship information, technology at Stagg and health policies. Parents are invited to suggest topics of interest.
Attending meetings is a great way to find out more about PTO. We would love for you to join us.
The annual holiday stagg/teacher appreciation lunch is Wednesday, Dec. 12, in the Teachers Lounge. PTO provides the entrees but needs donations of side dishes such as appetizers, chips and dips, fruit, veggies, relish trays and desserts. Items may be brought to security at the North door that morning by students or brought by 10 a.m. by parents. Please mark that it's for PTO. Volunteers are needed to help set up and decorate at 6 p.m. Tuesday and to help before, during and after the event. Food is served during all lunch hours. Fall Fundraiser Oct. 30: Tape a Teacher takes place at lunches Tuesday, Oct. 30, in the Commons. Students and staff can buy pieces of tape for $1 each to tape up a rotating set of staff including Mr. Olsen, Dr. McLeod, Mr. Kowalczyk, Mr. Renner and Ms. Carr or Ms. Sisk. Students also can enter a raffle for one of two baskets valued at $50 for $1 per raffle ticket. One includes cologne, Axe, snacks, a $25 Red Robin gift card and other prizes. The other includes 73-piece Ulta makeup set, shower gels, a bath bomb and snacks. Tickets will be sold at lunches Friday, Oct. 26, and the day of the event in the Commons.
The next meeting is at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, in Room 605. A representative from the Dean's Office, probably Ms. Carr, will talk about bullying, including cyberbullying and social media. All parents and students are welcome. Membership forms will be available.
The first meeting of the 2018-19 school year was at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, in Room 605. That's the classroom closest to the desk in the Commons just inside the front door.. Service learning coordinator Mary Stelter will talk about how students can document their community service hours and what organizations qualify for those hours. Also, Principal Eric Olsen will give an update on school activities and answer questions from parents.
The second meeting of the 2018-19 school year was at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, in Room 605. The scheduled topic is scholarships. A representative from the Guidance Department will discuss scholarship opportunities available through Stagg organizations and those in the community and how students can apply for them.
